"When I was about 6 years old (1953) we lived on a ranch in Duncanville, Texas. It's a thriving middle class community near Dallas now, but in those days it was sparsely populated, rough country... nothing but rocks, cedars, scrub oaks and lots of snakes, scorpions, bobcats, tarantulas, and more snakes. Even so, as a child, I roamed around all day with just my female boxer dog who was very protective.
As we left a wooded area into a big clearing I saw a long silvery object just slowly gliding along in the sky.. not far away. The next thing I saw was another craft (I didn't know it was a jet till later) diving at a high rate of speed toward the strange object. It may have been a glint of the sun but there seemed to be like lightening between the 2 objects in the sky. The jet, began to billow smoke, and almost immediately the pilot ejected. Back in those days children were to be "seen but not heard". But, when I heard the neighbors in the area, they all talked about rescuing the pilot from the trees. No one else, it seems, saw the UFO. This was an event you never forget.. like where you were when J.F.K. was assassinated or a horrific wreck.
